Environment

We must conserve the natural beauty of our area and state, which makes it more inviting to growth and tourism.

Our environment in the Lakelands region cannot be taken for granted. We must do all we can to protect the Savannah, Saluda, and Reedy River watersheds. We truly are blessed with these assets. Water quality issues are state issues and must be addressed by our leaders.

Taking pride in our home towns is important and that pride is easily seen in the cleanliness of our towns. We must take an interest in keeping litter off our streets. We must act locally to contain and dispose of wastes before they can damage our environment.

We must be aware of our use of energy and resources. Our awareness acknowledges that we do not take these for granted. If we all will do small things to protect our environment and conserve our energy, the collective result will be great. We must encourage and explore alternative energy sources. We must strive to lower our dependency on foreign oil supplies. We must realize that conservation and a clean environment can be accomplished by each of us caring and doing a little more.

As your Senator I will strive to set an example in protecting our environment and making others aware of what they can do. I will also work to establish a water policy for South Carolina and her neighbors.
