Issues Facing South Carolinians

How I believe that our next Senator must focus and lead our district:

Economics
We must increase the number of manufacturing jobs in Senate District 10, which will provide higher incomes to our residents and further expand the retail and service sector. It is not the government’s responsibility to create these jobs. It is the government’s responsibility to limit policies and regulations so that entrepreneurship and innovation may flourish.

Immigration
Our federal government has failed in its responsibility to control our borders. Individual states have recently passed laws to help identify those who are illegally in our nation. We too must take control of the problem of illegal immigration in our state. Doing so will eliminate extra costs of our government and offer better services to our citizens.

Education
According to the South Carolina Policy Council, only 50% of students who enter the ninth grade in our state ever receive their high school diploma. This crisis should be a top priority for our next state senator.

Environment
We must conserve the natural beauty of our area and state, which makes it more inviting to growth and tourism.

Government Spending
Recall that in year 2000, our state suffered a credit crisis due to its spending surpassing its income, and yet in the last five years our state spending has grown by one third. Our state cannot continue to spend at this outrageous rate and our legislature is responsible for this growth in spending. We must demand that government operate effectively and efficiently, giving each taxpayer the most return on their tax dollars.
